WHY the Honda S2000?

Yes, it’s the car Johnny Trent raced in “The Fast and The Furious” but that is not the main reason…I know that movie was made almost ten years ago but the car is on the market since 1999 so how cool is that? Do I even need to tell anybody WHY?

pic-151681

-BECAUSE roadsters will always have a lot of sex-appeal (and don’t worry if you don’t, because the S2000 has more than a lot for anybody and any body!)

2008 Honda S2000

-BECAUSE it’s one of those cars that just look good, no matter what you do to them – see the pink version that made the poster of 2Fast2Furious and understand what I mean!

2008hondas2000cractionrear400

-BECAUSE, yes, it stared in the first two Fast&Furious movies, and I am pretty sure you can spot one or two in Tokyo Drift also, but I really can’t remember any right now

-BECAUSE with 120HP/litre, its 2 litre fuel injected engine is a marvel of technology

-BECAUSE it is Japanese, and I’m sure you don’t know this: Japanese cars DON’T let you down! Ooh you already knew? Wow, you must be a car expert or something!

-BECAUSE the feeling of pushing it to 9000rpm must be absolutely worth dying for. Unfortunately I haven’t died yet, but I’m still waiting for that day to come.

WHY the smart Fortwo?

smart Fortwo (1998-)

I completely ignored this car for the most part of its 10year+ presence on the market. Except for the time a very cool version was launched, the Crossblade, which I still adore and would prefer more than a lot of other cars, this tiny little cross-towner has slipped from my list quite graciously until I saw a picture of it last summer. The second generation convertible offered me I view that I ignored for some time, that of the good all-rounder, just perfect to help you let go of your motorcycle and still beat the traffic at rush hour. Bottomline, WHY?

2008_smart_fortwo_passion_cabrio_top-thumb

-BECAUSE it’s the swatch car…that means fashion, that means balance, that means Swiss Made, and it’s got Mercedes DNA.

smart_fortwo_plant

-BECAUSE you can personalize it whenever you want, and change it’s color every day with the interchangeable plastic panels. It’s just a great invention!

smart-fortwo-s-s

-BECAUSE it’s been more than ten years on the market and it only got better and more likeable. This car is unique and that is why it will live forever.

smart6

-BECAUSE it is a young classic, and that, I think, is a pretty remarkable thing for a plastic box!

WHY the Alfa GT

Alfa-Romeo GT(2004-)

The Faberge Egg is probably the most beautiful piece of art man can get out of a bird’s egg. Beautiful, but expensive, and not necessarily useful. Although they attract most women, men have shown an interest in them just as well. Like a Faberge Egg, this Bertone designed coupe, is a piece of art unequaled by most of its supposed counter-candidates. WHY?

-BECAUSE its name alone stands as a sign of domination – the Alfa car. The GT has many flows, but its ability to make everyone overlook them is the only quality it needs.

-BECAUSE although now it is merely a not-so successful grand-turismo, this Alfa-Romeo is sure to become a well-respected classic….sometime in the future.

-BECAUSE the status of owning an Alfa in general gives you the privilege of taking part in something not many people have – not only being the proud owner of a luxury, refined, Italian sports-car, but also having an unelaborated diploma of car-lover.

-BECAUSE any specs would be almost useless – this car has been primarily developed to suit the taste for beauty not even merely in any attempt of becoming a performance icon – in any case, I would definitely avoid the Diesel and probably the anemic 1.8 TS, the basic petrol engine, with only 140 HP. The 240 HP 3.2 liter V6 is more than promising, but for a better fuel efficiency, the 2.0 l 165 HP engine would do perfectly.

-BECAUSE this car is definitely a classic, and this particular piece of Italian design seems to be timeless. It’s already been 5 years since its debut on the market and it looks even better now than when it was introduced. And also the brown-beige leather seats are terrific!

WHY Series 3?

BMW 3 Series Sedan (E46) 1998-2005

Without any introduction, I love the most popular BMW!

 WHY?

-BECAUSE it still turns sooo many heads.

-BECAUSE it is still thought by many as being better-looking than the new 3 Series – and although I have recently grown very fond of the new model, to say the least, I still sigh deeply at the thought that all that’s left of the old model is just what has been sold so far.

-BECAUSE it’s not really necessary to present any specs…any engine with any level of equipment would do, really, if able to find one in good condition – remember though that this rear wheel driven (occasionally equipped with xDrive) car is a BMW…and like any BMW its owner has probably tested the shit out of it to say the least. You can’t help it really. Sport-driving is in its genes, and when at the  wheel, those genes will combine with yours and you won’t be able to control the urge…that talking head that tells you to push the car’s limits way above the ones that stop a normal equivalent car. Although “equivalent” and “car” are just figures of speech: BMW is really a “sporting machine” with no plausible opponent.

-BECAUSE I have never seen any other minutes-long movie scenes revolved around other car than this model. Sure you won’t see it in “Fast and Furious” but i’m talking about a totally uncar related movie – “Finding Forrester” (2000) – where two of the characters have an argument on the subject of BMWs where they point out its qualities and the so many reasons why the 3 Series is more valuable than any treasure – a gold mettalic painted brand new 3 Series. Although I must say: my favorite is the ZHP (M-Sports package with 19” rims and 3 liter 6 cylinder 230 PS engine) sedan with a 16:9 navigation and TV, 6-speed manual, alcantara seats and what they call a hole (power sunroof). Harman/kardon acoustics included. Now THAT’s a car! Shy of 20k at a lot under 100k km on the used car market, of course. And who can forget it’s life lasting durability?

-BECAUSE for most people this car is a must and they don’t need any reasons to just want it.

-BECAUSE it’s an affordable family car that’s meant to be a classic. And classics, never get old.

I forgot the all-important color – puple mettalic for me please! With all of the above and a trailer coupling, ’cause who knows, right?

WHY RS2?

Audi RS2 Avant 1994-1996                                                                                                                        Ever thought about an RS2? You most probably did when it was in production between 1994-1996  but how about after the RS4 B5 came out in 2000? Well you can rest assured that reasons to think about it can be found in almost every inch of metal on that car. WHY? you will probably ask…

-BECAUSE of its so obvious blue color. Call me old fashioned, but I wouldn’t choose any other paint for my RS2.

                                               http://photos.evo.co.uk/images/front_picture_library_UK/dir_426/car_photo_213409_5.jpg

-BECAUSE it looks like something you would have made in your garage with spare parts. It’s not the most beautiful car, far from that actually, but it’s just something about its simple and classic Audi Avant shape that keeps it on adding new fans to the list. Compare it to the new M3, or the C63 AMG…its not even close but it doesn’t have to be. Simple looks can mean more better opportunities for doing fun tune-up projects. Let your mind play freely with its shapes and see where that leads you.

                                          http://culturegarage.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/audi-rs2-avant-front-1_128.jpg

-BECAUSE it’s not one of those expensive “sport-packaged” cars made for people who want to look like high rollers when their actually driving an environmentally clean diesel. This is a diamond in the rough. Porsche rims, Porsche brakes, even Porsche side mirrors, rear badge, assembly, suspension! Porsche even made substantial upgrades to the 2.2 liter 5-cylinder Audi engine, giving it 315 BHP! They really DON’T make them like this anymore. Nowadays it’s VW powered Bentleys and Audi powered Lamborghinis. Sure, there is your occasional Lambo powered Audi – the S8…or the soon-to-be R8 V10. But that engine was designed and made by Audi in the first place so “it don’t count”. This is the old school tuner’s class. This is how they should make it but it’s probably to expensive. Whatever the reason, you can’t ignore such an amazing machine.

-BECAUSE it is the first RS made by Audi and the first high-end sports Avant also.

-BECAUSE it’s 2891 total production number officially makes it a collector’s item. And it’s price easily found under 20k euros officially makes it an affordable super-sport!

-BECAUSE it’s part of Audi premium quality car history which deffinetly makes this one a classic….and classics, they never get old!

WHY RoadRunner?

Plymouth Road Runner Super Bird 1970
Well, it is the theme this blogs revolves around so its got to have something special, right?

IT DOES!

Why?

Well:
-BECAUSE it is a muscle-car… not only that, but I think it’s THE muscle-car when it comes to design. It goes to extremes… I mean one look at it and you are stunned. And I don’t mean any Road Runner, but specifically the 1970 version…and it’s even better if it comes in black. That rear-end spoiler is so obvious, just because its meant to be that way.

                                            http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1129/943700214_174550e4c2.jpg?v=0

-BECAUSE it has a body shaped like a bullet, and you gotta love that. Nobody does that anymore.

-BECAUSE
when you look at it, you don’t even need to talk performance. It screams out loud “big engine” and “just put me to a half-a-mile test run”. If you’re a maniac and you want to get into that kind of details, it’ll tell you with no shame that it has 3 V8 engines to choose from the smallest of which delivers you 375 bhp…and if that still doesn’t do the trick (and you know it won’t), the second one goes up to 390 bhp. But of course a Hemi is a Hemi, and we all want one, especially in a muscle-car. So for our entertaining pleasure, the Hemi gets you 425 bhp right on the wheel. That’s not bad! That’s not bad at all!

-
BECAUSE if you’re driving one of these you’ll feel every other car is like the coyote.

-BECAUSE it’s one of the rarest muscle cars on the roads; with only 1920 units made the battle to get one of these is an expensive one and also a though battle to get involved in. And who can blame a Super Bird owner for not wanting to sell?

-
BECAUSE its a classic and classics…never get old!
